Christian Education

  • The Christian Education Committee is pleased to offer Rediscover Jesus: An Invitation by Matthew Kelly to every family during this season of Lent. Kelly’s devotional offers forty meditations as the church journeys through the desert to the empty tomb. Please feel free to read as a family or with a small group of friends.

Please contact Cathie Calkins (Catherine.calkins@gmail.com) if you are interested in gathering with a small group to discuss this book throughout Lent.

  • JOURNEY THROUGH HOLY WEEK will be explored during the Sundays of Lent. Beginning March 6 until April 10, Sherina Poorman will guide children of all ages in creating a special leather journal. The project requires “tooling” their own designs into the leather and will be a wonderful keepsake to treasure. After completing their journals, the participants will use their journals for fun activities during the Sundays in Lent.

This project is an activity kids of all ages will enjoy and find meaningful after completing activities using their journals throughout the Sundays of Lent. The highlights of this journey include Palm Sunday, Jesus in the Temple, The Last Supper, and the Resurrection.

  • Adult Sunday Morning Study Group; “The Path to the Cross
Join us for 5 weekly video/discussion sessions guided by teacher, historian Ray Vander Laan, who describes the historical, geographical and cultural contexts of the covered Scriptures, filming on location in the Middle East settings of the Bible.

Featured in these sessions is the passionate faith of the people who prepared the Way for Jesus and for his ultimate acts of obedience and sacrifice. Individual sessions include (1) The Way of the Essenes (Qumran), (2) The Way of John the Baptist, (Machaerus) (3) Into the Desert to be Tested, (En Gedi), (4) The Last Supper (Jerusalem), and (5) The Fifth Cup: Our Way of Hope (Gethsemene).

We’ll be meeting Sundays from 9 -10 AM before worship during Lent from March 6 through April 3. All are welcome, in person or by Zoom. Please contact the church office at admin@ardmorepres.org for the Zoom link.
