Music

Through music, we urge all who gather to offer joyful praises to the Lord. At the heart of worship are hymns, sung by the largest “choir” (you—the congregation) led by a choir, the pipe organ and/or other instruments. Our musicians’ goal is to bring glory to God and to be an encouragement to fellow worshippers. Hymns, anthems, and voluntaries are drawn from both a vast inherited wealth of musical expressions and from the best of newer compositions.

“If you enjoy singing, I encourage you to give the choir a try. There are no auditions, and everyone is welcome. You don’t need to be able to read music! I’ll give you a hint, when the notes go up, your voice goes up and when the notes go down, your voice goes down. The adult choir has exceptional section leaders, so you always have someone to follow if you are ever unsure.

While every choir is different, in my experience there is one thing they have in common; a loving community that welcomes me in. It is a blessing to be in relationship with so many in our church who I may not have gotten to know any other way. It is a privilege to be able to offer a piece of myself to God and add something meaningful to the worship service. Choir offers a unique fellowship experience. We worship together and we laugh together. We pray together and support each other through difficult times.

When the psalmist writes “make a joyful noise unto the lord”, he is not concerned with the quality of the sound or if it’s on key. He is focused on the intention behind the music. The joy that worshipping God brings. To God, the offering of yourself and your talents is beautiful. The adoration from God’s children is the sweetest music he hears.”
