Greetings from the Music Ministry of APC! We are well into our 2015-16 program year. But it’s not too late to join one of our choirs. Based on a broad traditional platform, our ministry draws on resources across five centuries of musical and spiritual expression. Do you hear God calling you to serve through our music ministry? Please feel free to contact me for further information (firstname.lastname@example.org).
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
Chancel Choir (adult volunteers with professional section leaders) rehearses Thursdays, 7:30-9:00 PM, and sings for most Sunday worship services during our program year (Sep. 13 – June 12). During 2015-16 they will also sing Handel’s complete Messiah in three installments: Part I on December 20; Part II on March 6; and Part III on April 17 (all during Sunday worship).
Handbell Choir (adults) meets weekly for one hour, and plays about five times per year in worship.
Wednesday PLUS. This two-hour event (gathering, singing, dinner, and activity) is held weekly, Sep. 16 – May 4, with breaks. Children’s Choir (grades 2nd—5th) sings several times per year, and Cherub Choir (grades pre-K-1st), directed by Carol Shih, sings five times per year. Both participate in Advent Family Night, and Children’s Choir participates in musicals (odd years) and festivals (even years).
Youth Choir (grades 6-12) sings several times per year, and participates in biennial musicals and choir festivals. On February 21, 2016, 2:30 PM, our Youth and Children’s Choirs will join choirs from Overbrook Presbyterian and St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches for a choral festival (at Overbrook). The churches have commissioned a new anthem from Wayne Wold for this event.
Youth Ringers, a handbell choir for grades 6-12, rehearses in brief (three-week) segments, playing for worship the Sunday after each segment.
Young Adult Choir, Women’s Chorus and Men’s Chorus each sings twice per year. Watch your worship folder, newsletter, or our website for specific dates.
