January 29 – A Celebration of the Pre-Med Hospice Program

holding hands with afghanJanuary 29th will be an opportunity to celebrate the Pre-Med Hospice Program at Ardmore Presbyterian Church.  Parish Associate Graham Robinson will preach and local college students will join us for worship and lunch. Everyone is invited to worship and then lunch with the students in the Mill Creek Room following the service.

Ardmore Presbyterian Church is now in its third year of overseeing the Pre-Med Hospice Program.  During this period, 55 students have been trained at Ardmore Presbyterian to extend compassionate care to patients diagnosed with six months or less to live.  In addition to providing a supportive environment for students at Eastern University, Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, the program also ministers to students from Princeton, Swarthmore, Ursinus, Villanova and Pitt.  Created and funded by the Athena Institute for Women’s Wellness, the inspiration of this far-reaching initiative was a Sunday school class on living and dying well. The students in this year-long commitment are supported by a network of chaplains, pastors, hospice professionals, Pre-Med Directors and Pre-Health advisors.

During the year, Ardmore Presbyterian Church provides sacred space for student training and support as students process the challenges of death and dying. Please pray for these exceptional students. While it is rewarding and in many cases life changing, it is also challenging and at times painful.  The students do great work, but they need your thoughts and prayers.
