Two weeks ago, in the first session of the Tim Keller series, we discussed what it means to engage the world, seeking its peace and prosperity without resembling it versus removing ourselves from it, seeking to remain true to the Christian faith without the temptations of the world.
This Sunday, after a break for the July 4th holiday, we will study the second session of the series, entitled ‘Heart, Three Ways to Live’, which focuses on what world view you want to live by. As in all the sessions, it will start with a brief bible study, this week on Luke 18: 9-14, which is Jesus’ description of the righteousness of the pharisee versus the tax collector. This will be followed with a video talk by Tim Keller based on the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) in which he compares the different behaviors of the father’s two sons to Christ’s behavior toward his Father and what that means for our relationship with our Father in heaven. He asks ‘How does it change how we think about the parable if Jesus is the true elder brother?’
The class will be at 8:45 a.m. in the Mill Creek Room and will end at 9:45 a.m., in time for the worship service at 10:00 a.m.. These sessions do build on each other, but each one also has it’s own message, so come when you are in town. All are welcome. Hope to see you this Sunday.
God Bless where ever you are.
